2000 - Caffe Lusso Begins
The summer of 2000 was the beginning of Caffe Lusso Roastery. At the wise age of twenty-three Philip Meech talked his father into building out a section of his parent’s garage to start a business he had dreamed about for years.
"That summer was full of lessons in coffee that were foundational to Lusso and my theory on roasting, but I will never forget what that summer taught me about time. I learned that coffee is an invitation to pause and take a moment to enjoy life and those around you. It is the equalizer and common ground to share a story and enjoy each other's company. At the roastery, we still believe this and hope that each cup you drink or share is an invitation to pause and enjoy life."

Direct Trade Relationships
Within two years, Lusso grew out of the Meech garage and moved into a larger location. As Caffè Lusso grew, so did the relationships with our farmers and producers. The direct trade relationships forged in the early days of the roastery continue to this day. We have known the majority of our farmers for over 15 years. Our goal is to highlight the nuance that was cultivated at the farm and present it beautifully in homes and cafes across the country.
The Roastery Today
In late 2017, Caffe Lusso expanded into its current location. The new roastery was designed to showcase the entire farm-to-cup journey and the relationships that Philip was inspired to grow nearly 20 years ago. Housed within this facility, the Macchinista School™ is a hub for training, education, and collaboration—a school dedicated to learning every aspect of coffee for coffee professionals.

A: If you place an order before 11am (Monday-Friday) it will be ready for pickup at the roastery at 2pm.

A: Yes! Sometimes the door is locked if we are roasting coffee (gets loud), but please knock and we will happily let you in and tell you about our coffees.
